6. Understand Brampton’s planning and permit layer
The City of Brampton states that a building permit is required for residential additions. The property and proposed design also need to be considered against current zoning and applicable building requirements.
This means the planning process should verify the actual property rather than relying on generic online rules. Setbacks, lot coverage, height or other conditions may depend on the zoning context and project.
